NIM VIND
Nim Vind, born Chris Kirkham, is a Canadian solo musician and songwriter who describes his sound as "Music for Outsiders."
Under the stage name Nim Vind, he has toured globally, including 15 European tours and performances at major festivals like Germany’s Summer Breeze Open Air and Wave-Gotik-Treffen.
In 2018, he toured North America with Michale Graves of Misfits, performing sold-out shows at notable venues such as Whisky A Go-Go in LA. Nim Vind has achieved this independently, without support from Canadian grant foundations, managers, publicists, or labels.
Nim Vind's music defies specific genres but has been compared to Glenn Danzig, David Bowie, and Volbeat.
Chris's efforts have been recognized by American music industry figures such as Todd Rundgren, Jon Zazula, and Eric Gardner. His song “Astronomicon” was mixed by Rundgren and premiered by Alternative Press USA. Nim Vind has released four albums: "The Fashion of Fear" (2005), "The Stillness Illness" (2009), "Saturday Night Séance Songs" (2014) and "Sagittarius A" (2024). Saturday Night Séance Songs was named "Album of the Year" by Rue Morgue Magazine, despite being an independent release.
The name "Nim Vind" symbolizes "freedom by insanity," combining elements from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the word "vindication." Referred to as “Artist 2.0” by engineer Doug Fury for his innovative DIY strategies, Chris continues to promote and develop Nim Vind on a modest budget. As Chris puts it, "I learned to do it myself because I knew nobody else was going to help me. I own all my music and met most of my heroes".
